OUT OF LINE
Meltem Evin Şahin’s Out of Line series is an exploration of form deviating from imposed ideals to develop its own unique existence. This series expresses forms that exist beyond societal norms, aesthetic conventions, and structured perceptions, yet possess their own internal coherence and strength. Şahin visualizes the struggle of breaking free from imposed frameworks through the resistant and transformative nature of stoneware.
Departing from perfect symmetry and idealized proportions, these forms reveal that deformation is not a loss but rather a process of liberation. Şahin’s interventions go beyond physical alteration; they challenge normative structures and encourage both individual and collective reconsideration of predefined limits.
Out of Line is a search for existence beyond imposed boundaries. Each object stands as proof that stepping outside the ideal, reshaping oneself, and creating unique forms is not only possible but necessary.
